Datura leichhardtii is an annual forb that appears in creekbeds and disturbed clay and sandy roadsides throughout the Flinders Ranges.
While Datura leichhardtii is a native species, the related Datura ferox, the Fierce Thornapple, is introduced. Its seed pods are much larger with fewer but more formidable spines.
