Wood White Butterfly pupation

Caterpillars of the Wood White Butterfly (Delias aganippe) seen in various stages of pupation in Leigh Creek in midwinter.

Wood White Butterfly pupae

Pupae, or chrysalises, of the Wood White Butterfly (Delias Aganippe) in the Northern Flinders Ranges in late June. The larvae were observed in May. Butterflies emerged in early August.

Convolvulus Hawk Moth pupa

The Convolvulus Hawk Moth larvae pupate underground. The distinct spiralled form is due to the proboscis of the pupa not fusing to the body.
